Empowering Filipinos Through IT Education: My Journey as a Head Instructor in Jeddah

For over three years, I had the privilege of serving as the Head Instructor for Basic Computer Operations at Global Pinoy Solutions, an accredited Filipino organization in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This initiative was more than just a part-time job; it was a mission to empower fellow Filipinos by providing them with essential IT skills, opening doors to better career opportunities, and enhancing their technological knowledge.

A Mission to Educate and Uplift

Global Pinoy Solutions has been dedicated to providing IT education and skills training to Filipinos across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Understanding the struggles of many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the organization took the initiative to help them learn, enhance, or even shift careers into roles such as PC operators, secretaries, and data entry specialists. With the ever-evolving demand for computer literacy in today’s workforce, these courses became essential for OFWs aiming for career growth.

My Role as a Head Instructor

As a Head Instructor, my responsibility extended beyond just teaching. I was committed to ensuring that our students, coming from different age groups and various professions, could effectively grasp and apply what they learned. I conducted hands-on training sessions on:

  • Basic Computer Operations
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Email Management and Online Communication
  • Basic Troubleshooting and System Maintenance

Many of my students were working in fields unrelated to IT but had the drive to learn and upskill, whether for professional advancement or personal growth. It was inspiring to see security guards, domestic helpers, factory workers, and office assistants come together, eager to explore a new world of opportunities through digital literacy.

Transforming Lives Through Education

One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey was witnessing the transformation in my students. Many who started with little to no knowledge of computers later gained the confidence and skills to apply for office jobs, shift careers, or improve their work performance. Seeing them land jobs as secretaries, admin assistants, or data encoders made all the effort worthwhile.

Their success stories reinforced my belief that education is a powerful tool for change. It was fulfilling to be part of their journey, knowing that the knowledge they gained could help them build a better future.

Balancing Passion and Work

While working full-time in Saudi Arabia as a Finance Secretary at CPC Holding, Saudi Binladin Group, I dedicated my weekends to teaching. Balancing both roles was challenging but deeply fulfilling. My passion for helping others and sharing my IT expertise kept me motivated, knowing that I was making a difference in the lives of my fellow OFWs.

Recognitions and Certificates

My dedication and commitment to this mission were recognized through my two certificates as a Head Instructor, awarded by Global Pinoy Solutions. These certificates serve as a testament to my contributions in bridging the gap between education and opportunity for Filipinos abroad.

A Legacy of Learning and Growth

Though my time in Saudi Arabia has ended, the impact of those years remains significant. I continue to carry the lessons I learned, using them to inspire and help others wherever I go.

To all my former students and aspiring learners: never stop learning. Technology continues to evolve, and with determination and the right guidance, we can always find ways to grow and succeed.

Final Thoughts

My journey as a Head Instructor at Global Pinoy Solutions was more than just a job; it was a calling to give back to my fellow Filipinos. Through education, mentorship, and community support, we can uplift one another and create a future filled with opportunities. If you are an OFW or someone looking to upskill, I encourage you to invest in yourself and keep learning—the rewards will be life-changing.
